Eritrean pharmacist

connections

EriPCo is a professional non-profit organization aspiring to connect

pharmacists and pharmacy students of Eritrean heritage around the globe.

Our Story

As graduates of pharmacy living in the diaspora, during our get togethers and phone conversations, we have always shared our desire to see a vibrant community of pharmacists and believed that our collective potential is a sleeping giant waiting to be awakened. This brewing desire and passion to reconnect and make a difference is what finally led to the formation of the EriPCo Facebook group in May 2020 by our founder Haikel Negash.
After extensive meetings and discussions among the founding members, EriPCo was incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Alabama, USA in September 2020. The Organization aims to connect all individuals of Eritrean heritage with a pharmacy degree, regardless of their current career path, and those who are working towards getting their pharmacy degree.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is EriPCo a professional association?

Not exactly. A professional association is defined as “a body of persons engaged in the same profession, formed usually to control entry into the profession, maintain standards, and represent the profession in discussions with other bodies”.

As opposed to ERIPA which is the Eritrean Professional Association that operates inside Eritrea, EriPCo is a professional organization aspiring to connect Eritreans who have a Pharmacy degree or who are working towards getting their Pharmacy degree around the globe, regardless of their current professional status.

How can I become a member of EriPCo? Why should I join EriPCo?

There have been many pharmacy groups before, and it seems that they get forgotten and another one is formed. What will be done differently now with this group?

As immigrants (a) who didn’t have resources to make an informed decision on what route to take when it came to our careers and education and (b) who were not able to get internships and employment because of lack of connections, we thought there should be a platform where Eritrean pharmacists can help each other, connect and collaborate. Hence, EriPCo was founded out of the dire need we had for such a platform. What makes us different is that we do believe in the organization so much that we are willing to commit full-time at some point.
